My name is LaPanda, also known as Panda. I was born in Chicago, IL, and spent my childhood reading, writing short stories and plays. As a teenager, my dream of writing was set aside when I became a mother at the age of 19. I had to prioritize motherhood, and my second daughter was born four years later. During my maternity leave, I decided to start writing again with the aim of self-publishing and seeing my name in print on a book cover. I hoped for Oprah Winfrey to select my book for her esteemed book club. I self-published my first project in 2017, simply proud that I had reached the first milestone in my literary journey.
After living in Kansas City for over 20 years, I moved back to Chicago, where my love for writing began to fully blossom. I wanted to do more than just see my name in print, I needed to learn the ins and outs of being a self-published author. I’ve poured my heart into each new project, embracing the challenges and celebrating each milestone.
Currently, I work full-time in the billing department of a medical office. I enjoy watching movies to observe the creativity of other artists and have watched "The Walking Dead" and "Sons of Anarchy" multiple times. I spend my free time with my family. My goal is to make it to the New York Times Bestseller list and possibly see my books adapted into films.
